Dear UKESF Scholars,

You will have received (or will shortly be receiving) the email below to 'launch' this year's UKESF Scholarship Scheme.

I'm holding the usual information session in 100/4011 at 14:00 on Wednesday 20th October (next Wednesday). As in previous years, please can I encourage you to come along to this, and be prepared to ask questions that potential applicants might have? You'll notice that I'm also hoping to live stream it - but I think any scholars will need to be there in-person for it to be effective! I appreciate that you might have lecture clashes, unfortunately it's not possible to find a time that works for every year/student.

Finally - please spread the word amongst your colleagues using any route possible (e.g. WhatsApp/Facebook/Discord groups that you might have within your year group etc). Students 1) in their penultimate year, or 2) looking to do a year-long industrial placement, tend to be the most sought-after and hence have the best success rates. But I'd still encourage all students to apply if they meet the eligibility requirements (primarily UK students with a 60% average in their previous year - or AAA if in Year 1).

The 2021/22 UKESF scholarship scheme will soon be open for applications, with a deadline of Wednesday 17 November 2021. Among other benefits, these scholarships include an annual bursary of £1000 and paid summer placements in industry. You complete one application, and potentially this can go out to lots of companies!

If you applied last year and were unsuccessful, there's nothing stopping you from trying again this year. Part 3 BEng students and Part 4 MEng students: unfortunately, as you're in your final year, you're not eligible for the scheme - sorry!
