<span style="color:black">This CoE will have</span><span style="color:#111111"> an investment of £6.89m over a three-year period with the initial focus to " explore holistic approaches to the development of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), and the implications
of their use in addressing the issue of protecting citizens online." The CofE is tasked to "build and lead the UK’s world-leading interdisciplinary community on this mission and provide a clear single engagement point with enough critical mass to engage with
government, industry and citizens". </span><o:p></o:p></p>

The Turing believes that a Turing-led hub would benefit its university partners and the wider UK research community. The Institute is well-placed to connect researchers across its network and build a community working against the proliferation of online harm.
<span style="color:black"> </span>They<span style="color:black"> are also uniquely placed to involve large digital platforms, and Government departments, agencies and regulatory bodies, the intended beneficiaries of some of the research, through existing partnerships
and relationships.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

The Turing<span style="color:black"> think</span>s<span style="color:black"> that the core activities of the Centre would play to Turing’s strengths, particularly the emphasis on Privacy Enhancing Technologies and the range of work
</span>it<span style="color:black"> ha</span>s<span style="color:black"> on online harms (from hate speech to modern slavery and online exploitation, terrorism and extremism).
</span>It<span style="color:black"> also ha</span>s<span style="color:black"> the capacity necessary for: connecting researchers, running calls for grants and fellowships, organising public engagement activities, workshops and conferences, and interfacing with
policymakers, regulators, industry and the third sector.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">The Turing is planning to enter an 'intention to submit' which must be done by
