***apologies if you receive this more than once***
We are delighted to share with you the details of the first University of Birmingham Turing Data Study Group (DSG)<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.birmingham.ac.uk%2Fresearch%2Fdata-science%2Fturing%2Fdata-study-group-2021.aspx&data=04%7C01%7CTuring-Southampton%40ecs.soton.ac.uk%7C68555607f91b40b0140908d92f15b494%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0%7C0%7C637592592526076897%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=8COkiFe82dpDB6rO1XNa18vXMMlIiuym0E8mfCdneIc%3D&reserved=0>.
We are seeking data scientists to participate in the University of Birmingham-Turing Data Study Group<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.birmingham.ac.uk%2Fresearch%2Fdata-science%2Fturing%2Fdsg-participate.aspx&data=04%7C01%7CTuring-Southampton%40ecs.soton.ac.uk%7C68555607f91b40b0140908d92f15b494%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0%7C0%7C637592592526086852%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=SqrEORu0ZKJSmIwukskPjU1yRRgJudaTt9t35Cz0Pw0%3D&reserved=0>. The challenge focus does not need to match your research area; as long as you understand the research techniques to be used and are open to experimenting with different approaches, the DSG will be a fantastic opportunity to develop your data science skills using real-world data. You will also forge new networks for future research projects while building links within The Alan Turing Institute, its university partner network, and industry.
PhDs, postdocs, those with equivalent non-traditional qualifications/experience and other early career researchers are encouraged to apply.
Commitment
Due to ongoing COVID-19 precautions, this DSG will run remotely over three weeks with optional precursor events during the first week, w/c Monday 19 July, and the study group itself over weeks two and three, Monday 26 July - Friday 6 August.
