Hackathon | 7-8 November 2020

£1 in every £3 of UK economic output is spent on or via projects. From HS2 through to a new hospital, financial services to defence. The numbers are vast. Yet project delivery is a late adopter of data science and AI. It has the potential to really disrupt how projects are delivered. Project teams are generally very poor at extracting insights from the rich seam of data that emerges during their development. The project data analytics community and task force are trying to change this.

As part of this Projecting success<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprojectingsuccess.co.uk%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7Ce6eeaef1bfb34e819a2c08d87fe0d6a4%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0%7C0%7C637399950927494224%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=vQaJjBANxBeiDThSZq1USVtRAPe%2FZRZyqndcw0yyrHk%3D&reserved=0> run a hackathon every 4 months in collaboration with Microsoft, the next one is 7-8 November. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to work on real problems, with real data, and helps them build their portfolios and enhance their CVs. There will also be representatives from a number of large companies, which could provide a route to employment and there is a £3k prize.

The hack is run on a community basis, with ticket proceeds (£10 each) going to Cancer Research (less VAT). Projecting success have passed on a discount code<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/project-hack7-tickets-113082851854?discount=Student> for a free ticket for our students. Please pass this on to students who you think might be interested.
