DataKind UK has been supporting social sector organisations for 7 years, through a community of volunteer data scientists working pro-bono. Their projects focus on supporting organisations to make sustainable changes in their use of responsible data science. This talk will cover some of DataKind's learnings from 100s of projects, delivered by Giselle Cory, executive director of DataKind UK. Giselle has spent over a decade working in social change organisations: from Government (Cabinet Office and Treasury), to national charities and think tanks. Prior to joining the team at DataKind UK, Giselle was a longtime core volunteer. Giselle believes that smart, responsible data collection and use can help the social sector tackle some of the UK's biggest challenges.
