Dear Colleague,
I'm writing as Programme Director for AI at the Alan Turing Institute to ask please for your help and guidance in strengthening and expanding the links we already have with your university in this area. Our AI Programme currently has two focus themes: Safe and Ethical AI, and Robotics. We also welcome any ideas you have more broadly.
We are keen to identify strong researchers at your university, at senior postdoc or Lecturer level or above, in the area of Safe and Ethical AI. Central subthemes include theoretical and technical work on: fairness, transparency/interpretability, privacy, security, network resilience, robustness, control and influence of humans by algorithmic systems. We'd also like to engage with researchers in related areas that interface with AI, including social science, ethics and the law.
Please could you check with your community and let us know names of top researchers in these areas? We have raised seed funds and can offer opportunities to play leading roles across some of these areas to help build up the programme.
Depending on responses, we aim to hold a workshop (date tbc) in order to bring the community together and look to form collaborations.
With thanks,
Adrian Weller
