Request for Peer Reviewers on AI for Science and Government (ASG)

As part of the Turing Institute's ongoing endeavour to support collaboration and transparency on the ASG programme, they are inviting the AI and Data Science research community at Partner Universities to become part of our ASG Peer Review Pool.

Background
In November 2018, the Turing was awarded £38.8m by EPSRC through Wave 1 of the UKRI Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) to support transformative research in priority areas. The programme name is AI for Science and Government (ASG).
ASG research themes are embedded into existing Turing research programmes, and the respective Programme Director is responsible for activity within their ASG theme. Themes are allocated a budget and run scoping meetings, workshops, meet-ups and, increasingly, calls for projects.

Tools, Practices & Systems
Dr. James Hetherington

Most of the initial projects for ASG were pre-committed in the original business case submitted to UKRI but, as we move forward, there is to be increasing scope for calls and therefore peer review, particularly in years 3-5 (April 2020 to March 2023). There is also likely to be a need for peer reviewers prior to April 2020 as we finalise expenditure on year 2.

Eligibility
The opportunity to be a peer reviewer is open to researchers and academics at Turing Partner Universities who have 3 or more years of post-doctoral experience in a broad range of academic disciplines and methodologies related to AI and Data Science, and particularly if they have expertise in the Turing Programme areas which connect to the key research domains of ASG, as above.

Expressions of Interest
If you would like to be considered as a peer reviewer for future ASG project please let me, Susan Davies at sdd1 at soton.ac.uk<mailto:sdd1 at soton.ac.uk> know by Friday 16 August, with the following information:

*        Name

*        University

*        Department

*        Email address

*        Current job title

*        Years of post-doctoral experience

* Research expertise and domain area connection

All data received will be used only for the purposes outlined above and in accordance with GDPR. The Turing are happy to answer any queries you may have. You can email them at ASG at turing.ac.uk<mailto:ASG at turing.ac.uk>. Peer reviewers can opt out at any time by emailing the same email address.

Best wishes

Susan
