***APOLOGIES IF YOU RECEIVE THIS MORE THAN ONCE***

As part of the project The Turing Way: a Handbook for Reproducible Data Science<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.turing.ac.uk%2Fresearch%2Fresearch-projects%2Fturing-way-handbook-reproducible-data-science&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=ByNF6OGFMuFE6ngm1GqSrqLPk38Yw69GqARevqL5yLA%3D&reserved=0>, three free workshops have been arranged centred around Binder<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmybinder.readthedocs.io%2Fen%2Flatest%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=NyTAjhKlalUEf35Jw7wcDQzZAM2lEkARiqYhxalTJdg%3D&reserved=0>, a tool for creating and sharing custom computing environments.
There are some funds available to support travel and childcare; for more details about this or any other questions about the workshops, please get in touch with the Turing Way team at theturingway at gmail.com<mailto:theturingway at gmail.com>.

Boost your research reproducibility with Binder
Aimed at PhD students and researchers who want to share their analyses in Python or R
University of Manchester, Friday 1st March (sign up here<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/boost-your-research-reproducibility-with-binder-manchester-registration-55331997494>)
The Alan Turing Institute, Tuesday 12th March (sign up here<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/boost-your-research-reproducibility-with-binder-london-registration-55337162944>)

If you are looking for an easy way to share your code with others, without worrying about the computational environment they're running or installing a long list of requirements, then Binder<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmybinder.readthedocs.io%2Fen%2Flatest%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=NyTAjhKlalUEf35Jw7wcDQzZAM2lEkARiqYhxalTJdg%3D&reserved=0> might be the solution for you. Binder allows you to share your software with others in the form of a single clickable link, making it easier for users and removing the need for you to worry about supporting lots of different platforms. At the end of the workshop you will be able to take some of your own content (in an R or Jupyter notebook, or scripts that can be run in the terminal) and prepare it so that it can be used by others on myBinder.org<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmybinder.org%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=1E%2FKvN8D5rla03D4MqY4sGIA9RX400SKghH3t4RKvi8%3D&reserved=0>.

Build a BinderHub
Aimed at research software engineers or IT staff who want to host a BinderHub to support their research communities
University of Sheffield, Monday 18th March (sign up here<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/build-a-binderhub-registration-55336756729>)

The public Binder<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmybinder.readthedocs.io%2Fen%2Flatest%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=NyTAjhKlalUEf35Jw7wcDQzZAM2lEkARiqYhxalTJdg%3D&reserved=0> instance, myBinder.org<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmybinder.org%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7Ca7cea9a3c7ac477aa83308d69b094268%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=1E%2FKvN8D5rla03D4MqY4sGIA9RX400SKghH3t4RKvi8%3D&reserved=0>, requires all code and data to be fully open, and computational power and data storage is limited. One solution to this is to host your own BinderHub locally, allowing you to control who has access to code and data and to provide greater computational power. We will demonstrate how to build your own BinderHub on Microsoft Azure cloud computing resources and discuss the challenges of maintaining a BinderHub. At the end of the workshop you will know why this would be a useful resource for your team, and will know where to look for help and support building your institution's BinderHub.
