Public Engagement with Research (PER) - Development Funding

The Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu) invites applications annually for funding to develop research engagement activities.

2018/19 Call now open!

Funding up to £4,000 per bid is available to run activities (which meet the Call criteria) during the academic year 2018/19.

Call assessment criteria:


1.      Clear rationale for the engagement work;


2.      Clear identification of and rationale for a defined audience for the engagement;


3.      Potential for interaction and listening within the project to maximise 2-way engagement between researchers and audience;



4.      A considered plan for evaluating the project's effectiveness;



5.      Development of an innovative engagement approach; OR a tried-and-tested method in a new context;



6.      The potential for learning/development of the researchers involved; and consideration of how this can be captured and shared with the wider UoS research community;



7.      The potential for matched resource or funding for the proposed activity;



8.      The potential sustainability of the activity beyond the initial period of funding.

Award outcomes published: Friday 19 October 2018

Projects timeline:

Interim reporting deadline: 31 March 2019

Project spend must be complete by 31 July 2019

Final reporting deadline: 30 September 2019
