***Apologies if you receive this more than once and for the delay in circulating this call, which came in when I was on annual leave last week***
Dear colleagues,
In pursuit of its mission, the Alan Turing Institute will be piloting mechanisms to catalyse the impact of data science and artificial intelligence across its university partners.
We are looking to fund local data study events, organized by local academics, on behalf of their home university, to generate interdisciplinary or translational impact across the UK. For this, we are looking for academics acting as the main local point of contact, and/or (co-)organizing Turing supported data science impact events with academic end users (e.g., medicine, engineering, humanities) or industry/3rd sector/government. The format would be scoping events or data study groups, adapted to the local timelines and operations.
All opportunities are funded through grant awards, and confer affiliation with the Alan Turing Institute, subject to a successful application. Final application deadline is Dec 31, 2018; early successful applicants will be invited to visit parts of the Data Study Group taking place Dec 10-14, 2019. Timelines, application processes, and further particulars for the current period (Dec 2018 - Mar 2019) can be found in the appendix below.
Best Regards
Franz Király,
on behalf of the Turing Data Study Group Executive Team,
and Sebastian Vollmer, Director Data Study Groups

Timelines and application process:
The role's duration is, in first instance, optimally from Dec 12, 2018 to Mar 31, 2019 (inclusive). A later start is possible (indicated in application), e.g., to accommodate for academic duties, though it should not be later than Jan 28, 2019.
Please submit your application directly via the form

no later than Dec 31, 2018. Your application should include:
- a CV in pdf format that includes sections on: organization/facilitation of events; interdisciplinary/translational research/project expertise; list of academic publications, highlight most relevant ones with *
- a cover letter in pdf format
Note that google account is required to log in for completing the form and upload the files - if you do not wish to create an account, please contact datastudygroup at turing.ac.uk<mailto:datastudygroup at turing.ac.uk> directly for alternative arrangements.
Applications will be reviewed by a Turing internal panel in batches, starting Dec 10, 2018, until all positions are filled. A decision will be communicated no later than Jan 7, 2019. Early successful applications (before Dec 12) will be followed by an invitation to join parts of the next Turing Data Study Group (Dec 10-14) for introduction to the event and the organizing team.
Unsuccessful (e.g., late but high-quality) applications will be considered for future iterations (e.g.,) Mar 2019 and later) if the respective box on the application form is ticked.
