Dear All,
Please see below an email from SUSU mandating that all club/society activities be postponed until 20th April. Therefore I would advice the few people who generally attend during the break to not do so.
There are a few other things in the email which may be of interest.
You may see another email in the near future regarding the AGM and a few other misc things. As many of you know, I am currently in the USA and expect to return in January 2021, I'm not sure how the society is running on a weekly basis however, I think we need to consider putting together a formal contingency plan to safeguard the existence of the society and it's assets for the future.

Hello All Club & Society Committee members,
Club & Society Activity
We wanted to update following the Government's announcement yesterday of their new advice regarding social distancing. This included a reference to avoiding all unnecessary contact with others and avoiding non-essential travel. As a result, the Students' Union has updated its position as follows with immediate effect until Monday April 20th 2020:
- All affiliated Club & Society activity should be postponed with immediate effect. This includes postponement/cancellation of all tours, trips, competitions, training, meetings, social gatherings and use of Club/Society owned equipment
- All 'block bookings' or space bookings within the Students' Union are cancelled
- All 'block bookings' within Sport & Wellbeing premises are cancelled
- All minibus bookings through the Students' Union are cancelled
We all appreciate that this is an exceptionally challenging time and the above decision has been taken to ensure student welfare and compliance with government advice. The Students' Union does not condone any activity that contradicts the above and asks that Committees and members please follow this guidance.
We also acknowledge that the above change may have an immediate financial impact for some Clubs and Societies. If you have any concerns relating to this, please contact activities at susu.org<mailto:activities at susu.org> .
Many of you will already have received contact from a Union Coordinator to discuss your situation relating to trip and tours. We will continue to contact each and every Club and Society to ensure we have a clear picture of the impact and can then reflect on additional support that could be made available.
Grant Round 3
With the above in mind, we will be suspending grant round 3 at this time to reflect on best use of resources.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
We will be extending the deadline for Club and Society Annual General Meetings (AGM) in light of the government guidance, so please do not be concerned if your plans have changed in relation to this. If any Club or Society is looking to facilitate an AGM online during this period, please contact activities at susu.org<mailto:activities at susu.org> where we can offer some support with this process. If AGMs are postponed, please ensure the existing Committee remain as a point of contact for members and the Union in the meantime.
Thank you again for all of your hard work and support to your members at this particularly challenging time. We encourage you to remain in contact via social media, email and phone with each other and your members. We will continue to update in line with the evolving Government advice and guidance.
