Hi all,
Today is the deadline for radio licence exam applications. If you haven't already done so, then you must send your application form to me by the end of today if you want to take the exam on Thursday 28th November. This is because we need to give a minimum 2 weeks notice to the RSGB. There will be future opportunities to sit an exam if now is not the right time for you (date tbc).
The exam is planned to start at 6pm on Thursday 28th November in Building 54, room 10031. Please note this in your calendar. A reminder email will be sent out to the mailing list closer to the time.
Regards,
Henry (M0HWY)

Hi all,
Just a friendly reminder to fill in your exam application form for the exam on the 28th November. Be sure to send a copy to me (hk1g10 at soton.ac.uk) and the RSGB (exams at rsgb.org.uk), as well as pay for your exam on the RSGB website.
All the details on registration can be found here:

As far as I'm aware, all foundation candidates have now completed the practical assessments (radio setup, operation and morse code appreciation). If you think you have missed out on any of the foundation practical assessments then please reply to me.
If you're planning on taking an intermediate exam, please speak to Tyler at the meeting this Thursday. As part of the intermediate practical assessment, you will need to demonstrate wiring on a UK mains plug and fitting a connector to a coaxial cable. The costs for parts for the project kits are as follows:
Morse sounder components £27
Morse keyer components £8.52
PCBs £8.63
More details on the syllabus for each licence level (including links to sample papers) are provided on the links off of this page: https://www.suws.org.uk/wiki/SUWS_License_Courses<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.suws.org.uk%2Fwiki%2FSUWS_License_Courses&data=01%7C01%7C%7C2df4fa6de451458d55ee08d774077e93%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0&sdata=S4YRLHedDiBdHbFxyOFVE%2FT7wTy%2Fd7PUzedDIaid%2BDY%3D&reserved=0>

Subject: SUWS radio licence exam session - 6pm Thursday 28th November
Hi all,
We plan on running a radio exam session on Thursday 28th November, starting at 6pm.
If you want to take a foundation or intermediate exam, then please come along this evening for the workshop today so we can work through the practical demonstrations (Thursday 24th October, 6pm in the normal meeting room). Note that the practical sessions need to be completed for each candidate before you take the exam.
To apply for an exam, please follow the instructions set out on the exam registration page. You must send me a copy of your exam application form (even if you have taken an exam with us before!), otherwise I cannot apply for your exam paper:
https://www.suws.org.uk/wiki/Exam_Registration<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.suws.org.uk%2Fwiki%2FExam_Registration&data=01%7C01%7C%7C2df4fa6de451458d55ee08d774077e93%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0&sdata=HANgSOTysddJNk%2BJSIDlUTlxlnlfSpTgyOiEEbvfhH0%3D&reserved=0>
Applications must be with me by Thursday 14th November, in order to give the RSGB time to create exam papers.
73s,
Henry M0HWY
