Hi All,
As some of you may be awarem SOWN's new Virtual Machine (VM) Server has
arrived. Henry and I racked it in the server room on Wednesday and I
have installed Ubuntu 14.04 on it and configured it so various
monitoring checks and backups can be run. What we want to do next is
decide what VM server software we want to run on it and how we are going
to manage VMs.
A few of us are going to meet up in Building 32 Coffee Room at 12 noon
to discuss this and try some things out on the new server. If you want,
feel free to come along. However, if you do not have access to Buidling
32 at weekends, then mention on the #sown IRC channel when you are going
to arrive, so someone can come to the north door to let you in.
We may also do some mast (SUSU antenna array) planning tasks, if we have
some spare time and there are some useful things we can get done.
However, we are planning to finish around 2-3pm so we may not have much
chance, depending on how many people attend.
Regards
David Newman
