Hi All,
It looks like the CLS room in Zepler has now been redecorated, so we
will be back in Zepler tomorrow (i.e the same place and time as usual).
As it is outside term time and there are less of us around, I think we
can be a bit more free form, so this is neither a meeting nor a doing as
such and I haven't bother to create an agenda (yet!). I am guessing
that some people will want to finallise plans for the National Field Day
at the weekend.
There may also be somebody coming along to ask our advice about wireless
mesh networks. Further to that there may be some SOWN things to talk
about. In particular, it would be good to organise a SOWN workshop
sometime in July. This will mainly be to try to tie up some loose ends,
tick some things off the todo list and do a bit of preparation to get
SOWN in a state so it is easier to get people involved next academic
year. I suspect people might see a Doodle poll coming round in the next
day or two.
I have also done some work on the SUWS Wordpress site (i.e.
https://www.suws.org.uk/wp/) so it may be useful to have anothe look
over that again and see what else we still need to do to better promote
the society to new members as well alumni interested in what we are up
to. I am hoping to get a few more news articles on there as we only
have two at the moment and one of them is just me reporting that we
created a WordPress site. Obviously, the National Field Day is an ideal
candidate. In fact, it would be good to have two articles, one
straightafter the weekend talking about what we we got up to and then a
second one when the RSGB publish results to say how well we did.
If anyone has any good ideas for news articles then please suggest
them. We are not particularly looking for a 1000 word essay. 2-3
paragraphs (and maybe a photo) that impart some interesting/useful
information is all that is needed for most articles. I am thinking of
putting one together for SOWN but have not thought of anything that is
timely yet. If we have a SOWN workshop later this month and we can get
IPv6 working on the nodes that would be the sort of thing worth
reporting in a news article.
Regards
David Newman
