Hi All,
Coming up we have VHF National Field Day on the Weekend of 6th/7th July. This is the big VHF contest of the year, and consists of 24 hours of constant operation from temporary accomodation (ie tents). Last year we teamed up with Basingstoke ARC for this, and they have invited us back. For those of you who can't make it up to Basingstoke, Itchen Valley ARC will also be running a station near Winchester and would be grateful for operating help.
Last year in Basingstoke was un-naturally muddy, we hope it will be better this year, but despite this we still put in a good entry on 2m, with QSOs as far away as Bavaria and the West Coast of Ireland! Photos can be found here: http://photos.suws.org.uk/index.php?album=outings/vhf-national-field-day-2012/
This year we are planning to run one station on 2m for the whole duration, and another station on 6m for the first day, and 70cm thereafter. The set-up will begin at about 9am on the Saturday, to be set up by the contest start at 3pm Saturday afternoon. The Contest then finishes at 3pm on the Sunday, followed by packing down the kit.
I have put up a Doodle Poll so people can let us know when they can help out, we can arrange lifts to/from the station if you would like to join later, or you may be able to hitch lifts with people driving up/down at various times. Doodle Poll is here: http://doodle.com/9hrunk6xrrnakqy2
We'll be sorting out kit such as tents/chairs/tables/stoves etc. soon, if you can bring any along more is better!
73s,
Phil M0DNY
