Thanks Max - for a report on some specific goal-driven use of
Facebook, and therefore more where I would like to focus social
machines, there is
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2012/Social-Vote-2012.aspx">http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2012/Social-Vote-2012.aspx</a>, which
looks at the use of social media to decide how to vote or persuade
others in 2012, and
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2012/Election-2012-Video.aspx">http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2012/Election-2012-Video.aspx</a>
which looks at the use of political videos on youtube in the
election.<br>
<br>
Also, you might be interested in
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.pewinternet.org/~/media//Files/Reports/2013/PIP_TrackingforHealth_PDF.pdf">http://www.pewinternet.org/~/media//Files/Reports/2013/PIP_TrackingforHealth_PDF.pdf</a>
of interest, which discusses people's tracking of their health
indicators, but not focusing on technology. For instance, about 21%
of Americans tracking their health use some form of digital
technology, and 7% use an app.<br>
<br>
The interesting thing on the new report is that nowhere does it ask
what Facebook is used for by all these people, just asks whether
people plan to use it more or less.<br>
<br>
Cheers<br>
