[Sociam-soton] IMPORTANT: Monday's SOCIAM Meeting

PLEASE NOTE that for the second half of the meeting we will be joined by two senior academics from Penn State University and we will be showcasing some of our research to them. Information about the visitors is below and their bios are attached.
If you are joining this meeting via Skype, please let Ramine know in advance and I suggest that you drop out of the meeting at 4.15pm when the presentations to the visitors will take place.

1615-1700: Show & Tell Session to visitors from Penn State University
Two senior visitors from Penn State University will be in Southampton next Monday and we have invited them to attend the second half of our SOCIAM meeting so that we can present some of our work to them. This has been arranged via the International Office and there is some background information below:
Prof Nick Jones, Executive Vice-President and Provost, and Prof Michael Adewumi, Vice-Provost for Global Programmes, are keen maintain collaborative relationships with the University.
In the past we have collaborated around engineering but this will be a great opportunity to showcase Southampton expertise and discuss possible collaboration. Penn State has an institute for cyberscience to cover areas in the range of physics of the origins of the universe, the genomic/molecular basis of disease, or the socio-economic impacts of a digital society; to designing smart structures and nanoscale tailored materials; or to developing systems for clean energy or real-time responses to threats.
