I am investigating the best/quickest way to address these issues, and I have cc’ed Rob Penn who may be able to advise on the VGA channel/table networking issues.

With regard to wireless, there are legacy issues within B32, due to the existence of the ECS wireless system meaning that the 2 systems conflict and cause degradation of the performance. We are working to resolve as part of the Infrastructure Improvement Programme, as this includes a target to improve wireless provision across the whole campus. I have been advised that these legacy  issues should be resolved, and the installation of Eduroam transmitters throughout B32 completed, in approx. 2 months’ time.

Hi Kay,

I’m one of the WAIS labs managers, and I have a query about the B32 Board Room.

There are a number of issues with the networking/technology in that room that would be great to be fixed, but writing a large number of tickets would be tedious, for both us and for iSolutions. If you could liaise with the right team and have them look into the following issues that would be great - we use the room a lot and it’s deteriorated a lot recently.

Basically the following is/seems broken:

* VGA to Plasma screen has lost one of its colour channels (or something like that), so the screen colour is obviously wrong. The projectors are fine, though.
* The networking in the table does not work. It looks like the cables are not connected under the table - this needs to be rewired probably, they have been in a mess for a while.
* The power sockets in the table do not work 100% of the time - I think they are OK now, but I’d like to flag it anyway.

Wireless networking in that room is very poor too - we cannot rely on it for Skype unfortunately, which we have to do every 2 weeks for the SOCIAM project. Is it possible to assess this and get it fixed?
