CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AND EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR DEMOS/POSTERS<br>

The registration for ProvenanceWeek is open now and closes <span tabindex="0" class=""><span class="">May 20th</span></span>.<br>
<br>
Also the submission deadlines for the poster and demonstration tracks are extended until <span tabindex="0" class=""><span class="">April 15th</span></span>.<br>

OVERVIEW<br>
========<br>
<br>
The second ProvenanceWeek will take place in Washington DC, USA, during the week<br>
of <span tabindex="0" class=""><span class="">June 6-9, 2016</span></span>. Following the successful inception of ProvenanceWeek in 2014,<br>
this year's installment will again co-locate the IPAW and TaPP workshops as well<br>
as several satellite events focusing on novel directions of provenance. IPAW and<br>
TaPP build both on a successful history of provenance workshops that bring<br>
together researchers from a wide range of computer science fields including<br>
workflows, semantic web, databases, HPC and distributed systems, operating<br>
systems, programming languages, and software engineering as well as researchers<br>
from other fields such as biology and physics that have urgent provenance needs.<br>
<br>
Provenance is increasingly important in data science, Big Data, cloud computing,<br>
workflow systems, and many other areas. By providing a record of the data<br>
creation process and of dependencies between data, provenance information is<br>
essential for tracing errors in transformed data back to erroneous inputs,<br>
access control, auditing, repeatability and reproducibility, evaluating data<br>
quality, and establishing ownership of data.<br>

The goal of ProvenanceWeek is to bring together researchers and practitioners<br>
who are studying, applying, and advancing provenance in scientific and scholarly<br>
uses.<br>
<br>
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:<br>

- Provenance management system prototypes and commercial solutions<br>
- Provenance analytics, querying, and reasoning about provenance<br>
- Visualizing provenance information<br>
- Performance aspects of provenance capture, storage, and analytics<br>
- Standardization of provenance models and representations<br>
- Security and privacy implications of provenance<br>
- Applications of provenance in real life settings<br>
- Human interaction with provenance<br>
- Retroactive reconstruction of provenance<br>
- Using provenance for evaluating data quality and trust in data<br>
- Novel methods for capturing provenance<br>
- Integrating provenance information<br>
- Interoperability among provenance-aware systems<br>

Posters<br>

ProvenanceWeek encourages the presentation of early work as posters. Proposals<br>
for posters should be limited to a 4 page description of the poster content<br>
formatted using the LNCS guidelines. Accepted posters will be presented during a<br>
separate session at the workshop. Poster description should be:<br>
<br>
- no longer than 4 pages<br>
- formatted according to the Springer LNCS guidelines and technical instructions<br>
- submitted as PDF files to <a href="https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pw2016" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pw2016</a> to the poster track<br>
- authors must also submit a preliminary version of the poster as a supplementary file<br>
<br>
Poster descriptions will be included in the Springer proceedings.<br>
<br>
Demonstrations<br>
--------------<br>
<br>
Demonstration descriptions should be no more 4 pages long formatted using the<br>
LNCS guidelines. The proposal must describe the demonstrated system, clearly<br>
indicate what is going to be demonstrated, and state the significance of the<br>
research contribution, technologies, and/or applications. To summarize, demo<br>
papers must be:<br>
<br>
- not published or under review elsewhere<br>
- no longer than 4 pages<br>
- formatted according to the Springer LNCS guidelines and technical instructions<br>
- submitted as PDF files to <a href="https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pw2016" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pw2016</a> to the demo track<br>
- optionally authors may also upload a video showcasing the demonstrated system<br>
<br>
Demonstration descriptions will be included in the Springer proceedings.<br>
