Hi All:
First, thanks to everyone who attended. We had great attendance for an
informal meeting by my count 18 people were in the room.
The outcome of the discussion was as follows. (Please add anything if
I left out.)
- We selected the Microsoft Pan-Starrs workflow. It seemed to provide
a good combination of interesting constructs (if-then statements,
collections), implementation (Yogesh will make it available in java as
well as .Net) and integration with databases.
- It was suggested that the workflow could be extended in various ways
to enable investigation into different provenance questions. An
example given was the addition of user input to the workflow to
capture this in the provenance trace.
The following timetable was suggested:
* Jan 31: Availability of the exectuable workflow (Yogesh)
* Jan 31: Posting of provenance questions and the necessary workflow
extensions for those questions
* Roughly end of May: Provenance Challenge 3 to be held.
- For PC3, we will try to find a venue in Europe. We are looking to
colocate with an existing conference. I will try to find a venue if
anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Paolo suggested the Data
Integration in the Life Sciences Workshop in Manchester (http://www.cs.manchester.ac.uk/DILS09/
). It's being held at the end of July.
Thanks,
Paul
