I would say
http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MJ1K2ZM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter
to start with.
You could chain one of these:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-displayport-male-to-mini-displayport-female-adapter-a67qg
to one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-Power-x/dp/B0144NS4Z6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478795721&sr=8-1&keywords=startech+HD2DP
The StarTech adapter can get its power from the USB-A socket in the
Apple adapter.
But there's probably a much easier route.

(I bought one such USB-c adaptor, works fine with display, but doesn't power the mac, which therefore runs out of battery before lunch time.) I suppose that a newer display would be able to power the MacBook straight through the thunderbolt,
