I use my MacBook every day. I've tripped over the cable at least 3 times
now. Each time it has just pulled the connector out of the socket, and
jerked the laptop across (or off) the table. There are no signs of
damage to the cable, plug, socket nor the rest of the laptop.
Yes, I wish USB-C had the advantage of Magsafe too. But I haven't
damaged it yet.
But Apple ditching technology to encourage everyone to move on is hardly
a new thing. Benjamin Button could have written that review when Apple
stopped including floppy disk drives, to name one time of many.
Personally, I think being able to put power, data and video in the same
reversible connector is a huge step forwards.
My 2p worth...
