If resetting the gauge like Jules said doesn't work, I'd get it down 
there. When I took my cooked one to the Bar, I'd left it so long that 
they turned around and said it was no longer covered by AppleCare 
because I'd exceeded the charge cycle count. (I have a suspicion the 
capacity being shot was making it count a cycle every time I unplugged 
it and standby discharged it, because when I posted about it here, 
Hugh's cycle count was substantially lower. If you let it get truly bad 
first, it might put itself out of warranty.)
