It was pretty difficult to tell a Performa tower from any other kind of PC
tower. There were still a few "out there" designs - the Twentieth
Anniversary Macintosh was conceived in 1996 and released in 1997, before
Steve Jobs had returned to Apple full-time, and before Gil Amelio was
ousted.

And there was also the Macintosh TV, but that was basically a black
Performa 520.

Because who didn't want a CD drive with a SCSI connection for your computer
and phono for your Hi-Fi?
