I tried out an Apple TV box but it seems it doesn't work as a second 
screen on Mac's older than a certain age, and my laptop is just older 
than that line so doesn't have the right encoding thing in the graphics 
chipset.

I tried out AirParrot which is a software-only solution but it maxs out 
the CPU. With some tweaks it would be usable for powerpoint, but not if 
you wanted to run something intensive.
