As Jules implies, if you had a wired connection you should shift that volume over a 1Gbit/s link in 1-2 hours, typically. I suspect your estimate may have been based on the wifi performance.
If you’re going through one router and no firewalls, then 50Mbit/s (20GB over an hour) seems very slow for GigE. Though I don’t know how Time Machine does its thing - maybe much of the time is taken by its processes, not the network?
Might be worth asking Seb to look at the network monitoring to see if anything’s up.
