I think a lot of the reason for using a K-lock is that if it *does* get
ripped out, it'll cause some rather visible damage to the chassis,
making it obviously stolen and therefore worth less (so a locked-up one
would be a less tempting target for a potential thief, as they'll make
less money selling it if it's got a hole in the back).
You could turn on "find my mac", encrypt the disk and register the
serial number with the police; doesn't physically stop it going walkies
but increases the chances of getting it back afterwards :-)
