I agree mc, having had a 'brief encounter' with one not long ago I was impressed how it felt, that it was light (not THAT different to a 13" Air), and the retina screen looked really great.  Just odd (to me) that with that quality display the resolution was still effectively the same as before, by default. I didn't have time to play much with it, or try the alternative screen sizes. Of course you could simply swap from the 'optimal' retina setting to the 1680x1050 layout depending on what you're doing.

Maybe I'll visit the Apple shop :)
