So… you'd rather be hosted somewhere that was hacked, but didn't admit it? Online services get hacked all the damn time, but most never find out, or at least don't tell people it happened.
If you're worried about security then a hosted VM is presumably much better - except that you'd have to track Wordpress security updates yourself, and that's a pain in the arse.
