I've been doing this with fresh OS installs for many years now without a hitch. One of the discs that came with your Mac will contain a "software restore", which will install all the bundled software on top of whatever OS you're currently running. Mac OEM discs *only* install on the model of Mac that they shipped with, but the bundled software installer is OS-agnostic.
