[OSX-Users] bcc oneself? (apple mail inspired questions)

apple mail is so weird - its behaviours are causing new questions. here's one:

If one's sent email is sent to the server, are we still well advised to bcc ourselves for capture of mail headers to show if an email has been sent? or is this  not really needed as general practice, because if it gets stored on the server one can pretty much say it got sent??
