[OSX-Users] iCloud / Google CalDAV

Hello everybody,

The setup for my calendar(s) is simple: keep them all on GoogleCalendar, and add a CalDAV account on each of my OS X/iOS devices. This keeps the calendars in sync pretty well, and in addition allows selected people subscribe and possibly modify my calendars (through a free gCal account), pretty much whatever device they run.

All this was disrupted yesterday when I upgraded to iOS 5 and OS X 7.2, and my calendars were taken over my iCloud.

(Of course I can disable iCloud calendars and restore things as before, yet ) Can people see an advantage to move from the Google setup above to a new iCloud one? And then, would I be able to share calendars with family/friends and colleagues? Even if they don't have Lion/iOS 5 devices? How?

Thanks,
\vs
