Folks,

We're there, at last. :-)

First, make sure you have an up to date and complete backup of all your 
files.

In Finder, go to Go / Connect to Server... in the menus, and connect to
     cifs://software.ecs.soton.ac.uk/software
Log in using your ECS username and password.
Navigate to
     images / apple / Lion
In the simplest case, just drag the "Install Mac OS X Lion" app to your 
/Applications folder and run it. This will upgrade your Mac without 
destroying any of your files or settings.

If you have any problems doing that, read the README.txt file in that 
directory as it will explain what to do, and other ways of installing it.
