For me, it's screen real estate that matters if I'm going to take a laptop with me.

Since the option to have a hi-res 1680x1050 screen came out for the 15" MBP, the standard 1440x900 feels just too cramped. The difference doesn't sound large, but it's about 33% more screen. For longer conferences, I take a hi-res 15" MBP with me. On a day-trip on a train, the iPad is invariably fine.

In comparison the 11" new Air is 1366x768, and the 13" is 1440x900. So the 13" Air real estate is the same as a standard 15" MBP. Note the 11" is a widescreen format screen, so the 11" size will be a little deceptive in terms of the 'depth' you get to work with applications.

Depends how much you value ultraportability :)

Those prices feel a bit higher when converted to GBP at the store. Academic entry level is £729.60. Entry-level 13" is £945.60.
