Is it not the case that you can just buy one now from s/r, given Apple is an approved supplier?

You just have to pay the full cost.

I must admit though, I thought the Air was on the list, so you could get it at the basic laptop cost if you paid the uplift, assuming it was your standard equipment replacement.

'Uplift' is such a horrible word. It's come into common usage here along with 'cascade', 'sweating the assets' and 'efficiencies'.
