Currently, the macbook air is not a listed ultra slim computer eligible for
isolutions purchase.

What can we do to get these models onto the list?

I've just been at three PC meetings where the majority of CS participants
had some form of air. It is a fabulous tool especially for those of us who
travel.

I also did fast interviews with over a dozen of the researchers from top
ten US schools at these meetings about using an air as their main computing
device. Some couldn't say enough about even the 11 inch version, rating it
"the best computer" they've ever used - at their desktop they plug it into
a 27 inch display and are away, and love it for being on the road.

I'm typing an aging 13inch Air, on the road as well. I don't know if i
could go to 11 inch screen but based on who's recommending it, i'd consider
it, and for the research projects we're doing where we need portable
laptops to run around behind people that could be ideal - yes i know we can
get what we want for projects, but i'm really focusing on standard
computing use. The Airs should definitely be part of the standard
selection.

The new models about to be released are supposed to bring back back lit
keyboards too.

So i'm just wondering: what are our options?

When i discussed this with our chair and with nick jennings they both
wanted to see these lists revised, and bottom line, said in cs we should be
able to get whatever computer we wanted we felt would best support our
research.

so, just checking.

best
