Absolutely. It's in the ECS software repository now for you.

I tried to stick with the new direction and you actually get used to it
remarkably quickly. I now find the "old" direction feels odd on trackpads.

You and I are not the only ones who think it is noticeably faster.
There's no delay in Finder windows opening, for starters, definitely
does seem faster. And being a reinstall shouldn't make any difference,
it doesn't have any clunky fragmented things like the Windows registry
which is bound to get slower with time.
