[OSX-Users] More on the Mail bug in Lion

Bad news:
There really is a significant problem.
Good news:
There is a way of dealing with it when it happens, without quitting, and you can even see it has happened by keeping the Activity Window open.

Well, things have settled down nicely in the fora, and it is clear what is happening.
After quite a long time of connection, Mail hangs while bring to do "Changing Flags" to the Exchange server.
This means that for the Exchange account it fails to complete actions such as getting mail, deleting mail or moving mail to other folders, because it is hung.
The way to clear the jam is to "Stop" (big Red Stop Sign) the "Changing Flags" activity in the Activity Window.

Bad news:
It still hangs on "Changing Flags" in 10.7.1.
Good news:
But hitting the "Stop" sign still works :-)

I haven't reported this to Apple (although others have had discussions with them) because I am not sure of how or even if I authenticate to support.
My hardware is out of Care - can I report problems on our version of Lion?
