Interesting - thanks.
OK.
Here's what I want to do, and am currently short of a good or even decent
solution - any improvement welcome.
I have a nicely maintained (sort of) iPhoto Library (actually more than one,
but one would do me).
I want to make it available to others, across the interweb, most of whom do
not run on the mac.
My web service is of course a LAMP system.
I don't want to have to do more than set it up, and then perhaps
occasionally press a button to do the syncing.
But I want all the information, just as it is in iPhoto.
That is, Album names, comments, keywords, photo ordering, album ordering,
key photos.
Doesn't seem much to ask, does it?
In particular, it would really piss me off to have to start re-typing
anything in to a new system.
My library is not huge, but big enough not to want to do that:- 60Gig, 13000
photos in a few hundred events, a few hundred keywords.
I have had a go at iWeb, but that seems to want me to pay attention to the
publishing software, like most things.
I have even done the whole mobileme thing, and apart from cost and limited
disk space, was shocked to find that for a start: 1) it doesn't publish the
keywords; 2) so no searching; 3) it doesn't even seem to sync with respect
to me removing a photo from an album.
I think my current solution of Gallery, with iPhototoGallery Exporter comes
closest, as it is one of the few things that keeps the keywords/tags. But it
doesn't sync, and can be unreliable.
I could move to Picasa, but changing would be a big step, and would require
more ordering etc, and I'm still not sure it would give me what I want.
And of course, what are the implications of iPhoto 09 (I currently use 08)
and possibly 10 or 11?
Would iWeb 09 just let me drop events onto a page and then keep things
synced? 08 doesn't.
So, as I said, I want to just tell something to give others the same view of
my photos as I get in iPhoto.
Any ideas?
Cheers
