o2 have just activated my iPhone 4 and I can confirm the signal bug when you hold the bottom left hand corner of the phone hard.

It has nothing to do with shorting the 2 aerials on the left hand side just a bag of water getting in the way. 

My recommendation, hold the phone with your finger tips, which is a lot easier to do with the square sided case. Perhaps the problem is mostly due to the fact that gripping the phone in your palm was the most comfortable way to hold the 3G(S) due to the curved sides. I guess time will tell.
