Neil,
Did you order it via Jules/Shaun?
We had an initial rejection from iSolutions for an iPad order (for Les) but that issue has been resolved. If you apply as a 'random' user you'll probably face the same issue, but if you go via Jules/Shaun it should be fine - iSolutions now understand the ECS research requirement for iPads. They are however very aware that supporting iPads for non-ECS users may be a different issue for them.
Note you cannot buy any IT equipment now using personal money and then claim it back - that option has been closed except for exceptional circumstances (e.g. repairs while travelling).
