Yes.
Or as an interface to the "automated home" that always seems to be 10 years
away.
Years back I had a project to distribute sensors and things that looked like
lego blocks, using bluetooth.
Would make a nice interface, instead of using a full-blown computer.

Actually, the thing I haven't see mentioned is the iPad's access to iTunes
U.
We were talking over how suitable it would be for students in lectures, and
it struck me that there is a possible synergy there.
