my strategy for over two years:

i have a fast, fat usb key

i drag my the latest docs from the doc folder
the latest ap support files from the ap support folder
sync services from ap support for the calendar
and the latest calendars from Library/Calendars
mail as well

it's manual but pretty simple when the columns are set to date last modified.

to make it easier i've dragged calendars and application support to 
the menu/nav bar to show up on any new finder window.

if chronosync can be set simply to grab just these files on just 
these conditions that's grand.
