I have been using chronoSync to the same end for about a week now and although its user interface is not too intuitive, I am not disappointed with it. I installed 'ChronoSync' on my laptop and a 'ChronoSync Agent' on iMac. Its is $50 in total, cheaper than a mobile me subscription :-)
