Since the problem with Fink and MacPorts has been the needless
redundancy of there being two open-source package managers for OS X and
the resulting dilution of maintenance effort meaning that they alternate
over which one is unusable outdated or broken in any given year, I'm not
sure how adding a third competitor helps the situation.
From bitter experience, avoid these, and compile from source the old
fashioned way. It's more typing, but you'll at least have some control
and a clear upgrade path as long as ffmpeg et. al. are spitting out
source tarballs. Package management is a good thing, but nobody but the
platform vendor is in a position to put in the dedication to maintain it.
