For any of you who are 3G owners and who haven't yet upgraded: you may
want to hold your horses just a little while longer.

I "upgraded" from 3.01 a couple of days ago and it was a disastrous
decision. Using my phone is now an exceptionally frustrating
experience. The UI is sluggish and it frequently locks solid for
several seconds. Typing for this message has been surprisingly
difficult. Battery life is now dire, too.

Things are definitely far worse than before the upgrade and thanks to
their new "phone-home" reflash validation procedure I understand
(correct me if I'm wrong) that it's not possible to downgrade to the
now deauthorised 3.0.

I'm sure reading this some people will be thinking, "Well it worked
just FINE for me so I don't know what you're whinging about! It's not
Apple's fault!" but I'm fairly confident that this is neither user
error nor exaggeration. The interwebs seem to concur.

A cautionary tale, at least?

JD.
