I don't remember whether I set up my eduroam password that way. But I  
do have a eduroam password different from my usual ECS password. It  
all works well from my laptop, but not from my iPhone: when I try the  
password is rejected.

Not really surprising because it nowhere asks for a username... Any  
idea how is one supposed to set this up for iPhone 3.0?
