[OSX-Users] spaces?

I've just started using spaces, and on the whole it's great. Being able to separate all those overlapping windows is wonderful.

Except that windows keep disappearing. Anyone have this problem under Snow Leopard? I'm loathe top go back to my SIngle-Workspace lifestyle, but I can't keep it like this.
Software Update, Word, Safari, Excel, they have all played peek-a-boo with me when I move between windows (with Ctrl-arrow key) or apps (cmd-tab). Mostly it's fine, but every so often I am working on a document, switch to another space, and it's not there when I come back. WTF?

Also, when I open a web page from another application (e.g. Mail or Tweetie) in another screen, the new web page opens underneath all the other web pages. Or in position 2. Wierd.
