Hi All,

As you’re likely aware Cohort 1 and the management team have been arranging an Innovation Camp over the past few months, and I’m happy to say everything is now confirmed and ready for the 20th. Please bear in mind we were somewhat hampered by COVID restrictions, speaking of which:

It is important to mention it is absolutely imperative that everybody does a lateral flow test each morning before every day of the innovation camp. Should anybody test positive, notify a member of the CDT management team immediately and stay at home. Monday:
- On Monday we’ll be holding a scavenger hunt courtesy of 'Lets Roam', please arrive at Building 1 for 9:00am and we’ll aim to start the Scavenger Hunt by 10:00am at: Houndwell Park, 563 Vincents Walk, Southampton SO14, 1JX, UK
- Details on how to complete the scavenger hunt will be attached below
- Following this we’ll meet Brew House at 1:00pm for a pub lunch, a pub quiz, and some team building games: Brewhouse & Kitchen, 47 Highfield Ln, Southampton, SO17 1QD

Tuesday/Wednesday:
- On Tuesday and Wednesday arrive at building 1 for 9:30am where we’ll have some sessions and talks put on for us courtesy of SETsquared, lunch will be provided for us on both of these days

Thursday:
- On Thursday morning we’re travelling to Reading, train tickets have been purchased and are from Southampton Central. These will be given to you at some point throughout Monday-Wednesday
- We’ll need to be up bright and early as we’re due to arrive at Reading for 9:00am, where we’ll head over to the Thales offices for 10:00am
- Thales will put on a number of talks for us, following which we’ll have lunch (provided by Thales) and then we'll split off into groups and begin the Hackathon!
- Details of the Hackathon will be handed out closer to the time, but it will be a machine learning challenge which captures the essence of the MINDS CDT
- In the evening we’ll leave Thales and head over to our hotel where we’re free to split off into groups and get dinner wherever we like (The CDT will cover food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a price of £25 per day, I’ll attach details for making expense claims below)

Friday:
- On Friday we’ll head back to Thales for 10:00am to continue the Hackathon until lunch (Provided by Thales)
- The Hackathon will end at some point in the afternoon, where Sulaiman and I will evaluate the entries
- We’ll then leave Reading back to Southampton and the innovation camp will end

Making expense claims:
As I mentioned earlier the CDT will cover food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a price of £25 per day, you can find the guidance at: https://sotonac.sharepoint.com/teams/FinancePlanningandAnalytics/SitePages/expenses-student.aspx
You will need to print off a form, and attach receipts detailing anything you’re claiming for. If alcoholic drinks are on the receipts, deduct the value of these drinks from the expense claim. The subproject code to be used is the MINDS CDT Delivery Costs: 519428104
