<p class="bodytext">Göttingen State and University Library is
engaged in several national and international projects on the
development of infrastructures and services for electronic
publishing and the implementation of Open Science.
</p>
<p class="bodytext">In this context, the European project
‘OpenAIRE-Advance – Open Access Infrastructure for Research in
Europe towards 2020’ is seeking a <br>
<br>
<strong>Scientific Manager (f/m/d)</strong><br>
<br>
to support the ongoing OpenAIRE-Advance project. This post is
offered with immediate effect as a full-time position (currently
39,8 hrs/week, part-time is also possible) until the end of the
project period (December 2020). Salary based on the German
salary schema for public employees (pro rata, depending on
experience; TV-L E 14). Transition to a related long-term
position is subject to project developments.
</p>
<p class="bodytext">This position offers you interesting and
varied work within a dynamic international team in a pleasant
working atmosphere. This post will involve a certain amount of
travel both within Europe and internationally.
</p>
<p class="bodytext"><strong>Responsibilities are as follows:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Assume a strategic role on behalf of the scientific
coordination, with a focus on matching the needs of research
communities to the development of Open Science infrastructures
as well as support for the implementation of funder policies
and good practices</li>
<li>Coordinate a work package with focus on support and advocacy
for the human-technical implementation of Open Science at
various levels, working closely with all relevant stakeholders
and the coordinators of the project</li>
<li>Oversight of topical scholarly communication task groups to
increase capacity and knowledge among the network,
contributing to training materials and advocacy programmes
including technical interoperability guidelines for
repositories and publishing platforms and OA monitoring (e. g.
dashboards) </li>
<li>Coordinate the development and implementation of the
OpenAIRE legal entity (OpenAIRE-LE) and securing national Open
Science partnerships from EU Member States and Associate
Countries and other sectors, in alignment with the European
Open Science Cloud</li>
<li>Manage the implementation and support the governance bodies
of the OpenAIRE-LE, in close collaboration with the
OpenAIRE-LE Office, including the maintenance and further
development of the principles and rules of engagement and
solicit participation within the LE working groups</li>
<li>Manage the strategic planning of the OpenAIRE-Advance
network, manage networking tasks and establish coordination
activities, ensuring successful support for the implementation
of Open Science policies</li>
<li>Contribute to collaborative activities between
OpenAIRE-Advance and e-infrastructures namely communication
issues, service provisioning and strategic alignment
activities</li>
</ul>
<p class="bodytext"><strong>You will need:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>a Master’s degree</li>
<li>very good knowledge of technical innovation management,
preferably through the coordination of the technical
development of digital infrastructures and services (e. g. as
a product manager), highly motivated to acquire new technical
skills</li>
<li>excellent knowledge of and experiences in digital
information management, preferably in the area of Open Access
/ Open Science, research infrastructures and repositories,
research data management, Open Access monitoring </li>
<li>previous project management experience including the
delivery and sustainability of high-profile, multi-partner
projects</li>
<li>experience of establishing community partnerships or public
sector legal bodies is an asset</li>
<li>excellent communication and organisational skills with a
proven ability to work with a wide range of internal and
external contacts and stakeholders</li>
<li>team spirit, curiosity, goal-oriented, dynamism and sense of
initiative</li>
<li>fluent in English (spoken & written), good knowledge of
German would be an asset</li>
<li>European travel for meetings and events is expected</li>
</ul>
<p class="bodytext">OpenAIRE-Advance continues to implement and
underpin the Open Science policies of the European Commission.
At the same time it will drive the transition from open access
to Open Science in terms of European open scholarship and
advocacy at the national level. The project aims to reshape the
scholarly system towards openness and transparency for
researchers and other stakeholders and to provide core scholarly
communication services for the practical implementation of Open
Science. OpenAIRE-Advance is the fourth funding phase of
OpenAIRE. Göttingen State and University Library acts as one of
the main project coordinators, in capacity as Scientific
Coordinator. In addition, OpenAIRE has recently established
itself as a legal organization lending permanent presence for
European scholarly communication support.
